What if recovery didn't have to be purely passive? What if, alongside the medical treatment you're receiving, you could actively engage your own mind to support and accelerate the healing process?

We've long treated physical injuries as mechanical problems — something to be fixed by doctors while the patient waits. But the mind plays a profound role in how the body heals. The connection between thought, emotion, and physical recovery is real, and it's something we've largely forgotten how to use.

"I believe there is a real connection between our body and our mind. We have just forgotten about it."

A few years ago I was diagnosed with kidney stones and underwent a series of lithotripsy (ultrasound) procedures. I was grateful for the excellent care I received. But I didn't leave everything to my doctors — I chose to complement their treatment by using the self-hypnosis and body-mind techniques I had learned.

Before each procedure, and between them, I worked on activating my body's innate healing capacity. I can't prove a controlled comparison — but what happened on my final hospital visit gave me pause. In the waiting room, I met another man who had undergone the same lithotripsy treatment. His stones hadn't dissolved. He was there that day for surgery.

I'm not sharing this to make promises or claim miracles. I share it because it reminded me — powerfully — that our approach to recovery matters. That there may be more available to us than we realise, when body and mind are on the same side.

This is what I offer: a complement to your medical care, not a replacement for it. Using hypnotherapy and energy work, we can help reduce stress and anxiety around injury, support pain management, and create the internal conditions that give your body the best possible chance to heal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely not — and it's important to be clear about that. This work is designed to complement whatever medical care you are receiving, not to replace it. Doctors, surgeons, and physiotherapists do vital work. What hypnotherapy and energy work offer is an additional layer of support — addressing the mental and energetic dimensions of recovery that conventional medicine doesn't always focus on.

The connection between mental state and physical health is well-documented. Chronic stress, for example, suppresses immune function and slows tissue repair. Anxiety and fear around injury can heighten pain perception and interfere with sleep — both of which are critical for healing. Hypnotherapy can reduce stress hormones, promote deep relaxation, support better sleep, and use directed visualisation to help the mind actively support the body's recovery processes.

This approach can be helpful across a wide range of situations — post-surgical recovery, sports injuries, fractures, chronic pain conditions, and recovery from medical procedures. It can also be valuable before an upcoming surgery or procedure, helping to reduce pre-operative anxiety and prepare the mind to support the body through the process.

Either can work well. If you know you have an upcoming procedure or surgery, starting beforehand can be particularly powerful — building the mental and energetic groundwork so your body is in the best possible state going in. If you're already recovering, beginning now can still make a meaningful difference to the pace and quality of the process. It's never too early or too late to engage the mind in recovery.
